#GirlBosses! The annual Elle Women in Hollywood issue has landed, and as always, it features some of the most impressive ladies in the biz, including Amy Schumer, Carey Mulligan, Dakota Johnson, Kate Winslet, Selma director Ava DuVernay, Salma Hayek, Gena Rowlands, and one of the year's biggest breakout stars, Alicia Vikander.
Elle unveiled all eight special-edition covers — each honoree has her own glam, solo cover — via its Instagram page on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
It's no surprise to see Schumer on the short list, as she's not only a newly minted Emmy winner, but also an accomplished screenwriter, most recently whipping up a yet-to-be-titled comedy with, oh, just Jennifer Lawrence. Elle describes the Inside Amy Schumer actress as, "Everywoman. Superwoman. And without a doubt the best thing to come shooting across the cultural landscape in 2015. All hail Hollywood's newly minted, always-hilarious truth-teller-in-chief—one of our eight Women in Hollywood honorees, @amyschumer."
Schumer's Trainwreck costar Brie Larson also spoke to the comedienne's talent. "We were shooting the baby shower scene and after Amy introduced everyone, she said, 'Okay, let's go around the room and tell each other when we first got HPV,'" the Room actress shared. "She brings to light the parts of our lives that we usually conceal. She's using comedy to break down boundaries."
Nevertheless, Elle made sure not just to honor the newest golden girls, but the vets, too, including 85-year-old Rowlands for a lifetime of achievements, including four Emmys and starring in more than 100 films.
