Following a successful two-year stint at Virginia, Ryan Dunn will begin his professional career with the Phoenix Suns after being selected with the No. 28 pick in the 2024 NBA draft.
Bleacher Report Draft Expert Jonathan Wasserman's Scouting Report
Player: Ryan Dunn
Position: PF
Height: 6'8"
Pro Comparison: Matisse Thybulle
Scouting Report: Dunn's explosiveness for play-finishing and defensive court coverage may be special enough for a team in the first round to picture an outlier and specialist. He blocked shots and collected steals at crazy rates this year. He just didn't show any improvement to his offensive creation or shooting.

Dunn was used primarily as a role player during his freshman season at Virginia. He moved into the starting lineup for the 2023-24 campaign and took his game to another level.
The 21-year-old averaged 8.1 points on 54.8 percent shooting, 6.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in 34 starts. He was named to the All-ACC Defensive Team for his efforts on that end of the court.
If Dunn can maintain that level of scoring efficiency, his defensive aptitude will allow him to carve out a role as a high-end role player in the NBA.
Even if the offensive game doesn't come around, a player with Dunn's size and length will have value at the next level because he can be a lockdown defender.
